The 8th Annual Matt Agresta Sportsman Challenge was held at Crossroads Dragway Saturday, June 24th. 78 entries competed for the $1,000 prize, a custom made Mike Ralston trophy and 30 gallons of VP Racing fuel. Bill McCarty of Washington, IN was the winner over Jeff Vaughn, the 2016 winner of this event, of Terre Haute, IN. Semi-finalists were Kenny Rogers of Terre Haute, IN and Jordan Wilhelm of Delphos, OH.
Pro Class honors also went to Bill McCarty. Adam Price, Terre Haute, IN was the runner-up and Russell Jeppson of Decatur, IL.
Super Pro winner was Jake Orman of Terre Haute, IN over Cody Alumbaugh, also of Terre Haute. Randy Protz of Vandalia, IL was the sole semi-finalist.
High School winner was defending 2016 Class Champion Jacob Youngblood of Rosedale, IN over Caleb Ramsey of Terre Haute, IN.
Michael Smith was the winner in Junior Dragster class over Jenna Protz from Vandalia, IL. Kaden Bouchie of Washington, IN and Matthew Spires of Dennison, IL were the semi-finalists.
Crossroads Dragway will not be open on Friday, June 30th due to the World of Outlaws Race at the Terre Haute Action Track. Saturday, July 1st will be ET Points racing for Pro, Super Pro, Sportsman, High School and Junior Dragsters as well as the second Fast 33 of the season.
