The 9th annual Matt Agresta Memorial Sportsman Challenge Race was held Saturday, June 23rd at Crossroads Dragway in Terre Haute, IN. The final four left in the race all had a personal relationship with Agresta before his untimely passing in 2008. Semi-finalists were Jason Rueckert and Austin Tewell, both of Terre Haute, IN. Runner-up was Chad Isley in his 1967 Chevy Camaro out of Charleston, IL. Eric Cooper was the winner in his 1975 Chevy Vega. Cooper ran a 7.593 on his 7.59 dial while Isley ran 7.017 on his 7.00 dial.
In Pro Class action Joey Moore, Terre Haute, IN came out on top over Chad Eaton of Paris, IL. Semi-finalist was Cody Alumbaugh from Terre Haute, IN.
Super Pro Class winner was Nick Fields from Vincennes, IN over Lee Ann Phillips from Bruceville, IN. Semi-finalists were Cody Alumbaugh, Terre Haute, IN and Josh Rogers, Reelsville, IN. This was Fields second win in 2018.
High School and Junior Street classes were combined for racing. Michael Smith, Rosedale, IN took home the bragging rights over Gaige Brenton, also of Rosedale, IN. Caleb Ramsey, Terre Haute, IN was the semi-finalist.
Tanner Spires, Clinton, IN was the winner of the Don's Service Center Junior Dragster class over Mark Spires III out of Dennison, IL. Jessica Smith, Rosedale, IN was the semi-finalist.
This Friday Fun Night will also feature PINK Ladies and the Scheid Diesel Series races. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the track closes at 10 p.m. Saturday will feature the second VP Fuels Fast 33 of the season as will as ET Points racing for Pro, Super Pro, Sportsman, High School, Junior Street and Junior Dragsters.
