SPRING CITY, TN – Addison Cardwell of Knoxville, TN drove the Cardwell Racing Rocket to victory in the 35-lap Brian Hooks Memorial Race on Saturday night at Mountain View Raceway. Cardwell took the lead on a lap 14 restart, built up a three second lead before a late-race caution flag. Tyler Dixson of Chattanooga, TN pocketed a $500 bonus as the Hard Charger of the Race after starting 22nd and finishing eighth in the Dixson Racing Special.

The top six qualifiers that also included Zach Shannon, Jeremy Shannon, Cardwell, Travis Sietsema of Crossville, TN in the Sietsema Racing Special and Collins went into the seven-lapFast Car Dash. Jeremy and Zach Shannon ganged up on Sietsema on lap four to take over the fourth and fifth spots respectively. One lap later, Zach Shannon moved up to the fourth spot.

The first of seven caution flags came out on lap nine when Dixson spun in turn four. The necessitated a Dixie-Style Double-File Restart that saw Jeremy Shannon retake the fourth spot from Zach Shannon. On lap 11, the field was bunched up again after Donnie Van Winkle of Soddy Daisy, TN spun the S&H Erectors GRT in turn two.

Zach and Jeremy Shannon continued their battle for fourth on the restart with Zach Shannon getting by Jeremy Shannon to take the position. The Dixie-Style Double-File Restarts made to two and three-wide racing throughout the 23-car field. Joe Bray of New Tazewell, TN spun the Bray Roofing Rocket out of the sixth spot on the backstretch to bring out the third yellow on lap 14.

With race leader Collins in a row to himself at the front of the field, second-place Cardwell chose the outside of the next row with D.J. Shannon to his left in the third spot. When the green flag came out for the restart, Cardwell got hooked up on the high side and sailed around Collins coming off the second turn to take the lead.

Jeremy Shannon also restarted on the outside, and he got by D.J. Shannon to take over the third position. Caution flag number four was waved on lap 16 when Tyler Dennis of Dayton, TN spun the Gene Douglas Masonry Rocket in turn two. Second-place Collins chose the inside for the restart, putting the third-place car of Jeremy Shannon on the outside.

On the restart, Jeremy Shannon used the high line to pass Collins for second. A pair of caution flags on lap 18 for debris and on lap 19 when Christopher Braden of Oliver Springs, TN spun the Braden Racing Special in turn four kept the field bunched up. Cardwell led Jeremy Shannon, Collins, D.J. Shannon, and Zach Shannon in the top five.

Zach Shannon got by D.J. Shannon for the fourth spot on the lap 18 restart, and then moved up to third on the lap 19 restart, dropping Collins to fourth, Cardwell reached lapped traffic by the 25th lap with a 2.7 second lead over Jeremy Shannon.

With five laps to go, Cardwell had stretched it out to a three second lead, but the was erased with a lap 32 caution flag when Joey Bishop of Spring City, TN stalled the Fish Tales Mastersbilt in turn two. Cardwell, Jeremy Shannon, Zach Shannon, Collins, and D.J. Shannon lined up for a single-file restart with less than five laps to go.

Braden spun for a second time in turn four on lap 35, but the checkered flag gave way to the seventh and final caution flag of the race. Cardwell held off the field once again in a single-file restart to take the victory in the one-lap dash to the checkered flag.
