Mountain View Raceway awards hard luck drivers Racer Rewards

SPRING CITY, TN – Contingency Connection Racer Rewards went to the Hard Luck Drivers in the eight Weekly Racing Divisions as voted on by the Officials Saturday night at Mountain View Raceway, Racer Rewards books are worth over $4,000 in Motorsports Products and Equipment Product Certificates.

Addison Cardwell of Knoxville, TN was the Hard Luck Award recipient in the Late Model Division, Cardwell was running fourth when his car lost power to bring out the caution flag on lap 5 of the 25-lap race. Cardwell quickly diagnosed the problem as a broken ignition switch on the #21k Jake Miller Excavating Longhorn.

Cardwell drove the rest of the race holding the ignition in the “On” position, and driving with the other around the ¼-mile high-banked clay oval. In the 20 laps remaining in the race, Cardwell managed to salvage a sixth-place finish.

David Lester of Rockwood, TN can’t seem to catch a break in the Open-Wheel Modified Division, but he’s always there digging and working to get better each week. Lester drove the #D4 Cadillac Grill LG to an eighth-place finish Saturday night in the 20-lap Main Event.

Bobby Davenport of Crossville, TN was running third in the 15-lap Thunder Feature Race when he spun the #99 Davenport Racing Monte Carlo. He had to tag the tail for the restart, only to spin a second time and was out of the race. That earned Davenport the Contingency Connection Hard Luck Racer Rewards.

Eston Humphrey of Sparta, TN was the Contingency Connection Hard Luck Racer Rewards recipient in the Junior Front-Wheel-Drive Division. The 11-year-old driver was running third when he cut down a tire on his #90 Humphrey Racing Four-Banger and had to drop out on lap five of the ten-lap race.

Jathan Campbell of Altamont, TN was leading the 15-lap Developmental Sportsman Main Event when he spun out early in the event, To add insult to injury, he was working his back through the field when he spun the #144 Campbell Racing Special for a second time putting him out of the race.
